Penthouse in Soho

New York City, NY

2010

Located in a historic district in SoHo, this project’s ambition was the construction of a softly aqueous residential environment against which the use of a vast range of custom-designed, robotically carved textures would be deployed. Over the project's nearly 3,800 sq. ft., virtually every significant surface in this residence, including floors, stairs, and countertops, are CNC milled, laser cut, resin infused, or water-jet cut and cast with fluid ripples, voronoi embossing, and other sensually textured surfaces. As such the residence is seductive and physically engaging with its tactile surfacing which changes from surface to surface and room to room.
