Residence in Chelsea

New York City, New York

2011

A renovation project for a very small apartment in Manhattan. The liability of limited space was transformed into an asset by capitalizing on the fact that if things are close together --they can be easily touched.  Accordingly, the walls and furnishings within reach of the seating areas were custom designed to have sensuous 3D wave patterns robotically-carved deep into their smooth, black walnut surfaces. These patterns provide intimate and tactile warmth where things are close but irresistibly touchable.
